Our Story

Hi, friends. We’re Brandon and Sara Mitchell — the husband-and-wife team behind Brandara Family Farm. Our adventure together started back in 1999, and since then we’ve built businesses, raised two amazing kids, and learned that life’s best moments often happen with a little dirt under your nails. Originally from Maryland and Pennsylvania, we both grew up surrounded by farm fields and family gardens — places where we learned early that good food and hard work grow hand in hand. When we moved to Martinez, Georgia in 2017, we brought those roots with us. Like many families, we began growing our own food during the pandemic. What started as a way to reconnect with nature, become more self-sufficient, and spend time together as a family soon turned into something much bigger. After a few gardening challenges (lettuce, we're looking at you!), we discovered microgreens. Their incredible flavor, vibrant colors, quick growing cycles, and versatility sparked a passion that led us to officially launch Brandara Family Farm in 2022. Today, we are a family-owned indoor urban farm specializing in fresh, flavorful microgreens grown year-round in a controlled environment. But our vision goes beyond growing greens. We're passionate about strengthening our local food system, supporting healthier communities, sharing agricultural knowledge, and inspiring people of all ages to discover the joy of growing their own food. Through community partnerships, farmers markets, and educational opportunities, we hope to make agriculture more accessible, exciting, and sustainable for the next generation. We believe small spaces can grow big things, tiny greens can make a big impact, and meaningful change often starts with something as simple as planting a seed.
