Spreading Joy through food, using simple southern goodness!
Our Story
I retired from GA state government as a parole officer in 2021, after 31 years of service. I have seen many tragedies in my career. With all of the heartache that can come with supervising people being released from prison, I decided that I wanted to do something in retirement that I simply LOVED and people ENJOYED...and that was BAKING! Many people ask if there was any inspiration behind the selection of the business name, BAKED BLESSINGS. I come from a long line of foodies. Cooking comes naturally. OUR FAMILY HAS, NOT 1, BUT 2, COOKBOOKS! The first cookbook has a little bit about our family history in the introduction, but the second cookbook digs deeper into why we consider our family to be the recipient of "GENERATIONS OF BLESSINGS". My Big Daddy and Big Mama (grandparents) had 14 children. We thank God each day for this couple who made the choice years ago to live a life of BLESSING and following Jesus. Family and friends remember gathering around the table to enjoy the bountiful BLESSINGS of food prepared with many of the recipes in these cookbooks. At each mealtime, Big Daddy would pray over the food with "THE BLESSING" written below: Kind Heavenly Father, Accept our thanks for these and all our many blessings. In Christ's name we pray. Amen. He prayed it over and over. No amount of money, fame, or possession can compare to "GENERATIONS OF BLESSINGS." I love what I do in my small business. Our desserts are not fancy, and are made with fresh, many locally grown, ingredients. They don't feature intricate designs nor involve complicated techniques found in many bakeries today but instead are more approachable and relatable to people. Their visual appearance says moist, inviting, buttery richness, flavorful, warmth.....what a true Southern dessert should be. Our recipes are a testament to the Southern hospitality and the joy of sharing homemade treats with others. An art form that is slowly dying away.
